Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using Firmware Drive - browsing files, packages, your wallet, downloads, and your account.

Getting started

What is Firmware Drive?

Firmware Drive is a firmware marketplace - a searchable catalogue of stock firmware, mobile repair tools, dump files, and FRP files, organised into folders by brand and device.

Do I need an account to download files?

Not always. Files that aren't marked "Featured" can usually be downloaded without signing in, subject to a fair usage limit per visitor. Featured files, and any file with its own individual price, need either an active package or a direct purchase - both of which need an account so we know what you've paid for.

How do I create an account?

Click Sign up in the top menu and fill in your name, email, and password. If you already have an account, use Sign in instead.

Browsing & files

What do the "New" and "Featured" badges mean?

"New" just flags a recently added file. "Featured" means the file is part of our paid catalogue - you'll need an active package (or to buy that file directly, if it has its own price) to download it.

Can I leave a review on a file?

Yes - once you're signed in, open the file's page and leave a star rating and comment. Reviews help other visitors judge a file before downloading it.

I can't find the firmware/file I need - what now?

Try the search bar first - the catalogue grows every day, so it might just be filed under a slightly different name. If you still can't find it, use our Request File form and we'll try to add it.

Packages & pricing

What's included in a package?

Each package gives you a bandwidth/file download allowance for a fixed period, shown on the Pricing page. Some packages also include a burst allowance you can dip into once the base allowance runs out, and a fair-use cap on top of that.

What happens when my package expires or runs out?

Once your base allowance is used up, a burst allowance (if your package has one) lets you keep going on its own separate cycle. Once everything is used, or the package's time period ends, downloads that need a package stop working until you renew or upgrade from Pricing.

Can I switch to a different package?

Yes - open Account → Packages and switch to any package you've purchased that isn't already active. Buying a new package from Pricing works too, whether or not you already have one running.

What is auto-renew, and how do I turn it off?

If you check "Auto-renew this plan" on the cart page before paying by card, your package renews automatically at the end of each period. Turn it off any time from Account → Packages - your access continues until the period you already paid for ends, it just won't renew again. See our Cancellation Policy for details.

Is there a device limit on my package?

Yes, each package lists how many devices it can be used from at once - shown on the Pricing page for that package.

Wallet & payments

What is my wallet balance?

It's store credit on your account that you can spend on packages or files at checkout, instead of paying by card each time.

How do I add money to my wallet?

Go to Account → Add Balance, pick or enter an amount, and pay for it like any other order. The balance lands on your account as soon as payment clears.

Can I send balance to another user?

Yes, from Account → Send Balance - enter their account email and an amount, and confirm with the verification code we email you, so nothing moves without your sign-off.

What payment methods do you accept?

Whatever gateways are set up show automatically at checkout, alongside your wallet balance if you have any. Exact options can vary by your location and order.

Do you accept coupon codes?

Yes - there's a coupon field right on the cart page. Enter your code there before checking out.

Downloads

Is there a download limit for visitors without an account?

Where guest downloads are enabled, non-Featured files can be downloaded without an account up to a daily bandwidth and file-count limit tracked per visitor. Creating a free account removes that cap for anything that doesn't require a package.

My download link stopped working - why?

Download links expire a short while after they're generated, and are tied to the device/IP that requested them, as an anti-sharing measure. If yours has expired, just go back to the file's page and start the download again.

Account & security

How do I update my profile or change my password?

Open Account → Profile to update your name, phone, and country, or set a new password. Forgot your password entirely? Use Forgot password on the sign-in page instead.

What is two-factor authentication, and how do I turn it on?

It's an extra code you enter after your password when signing in, so someone who guesses or steals your password still can't get in. Turn it on from Account → Security - choose either an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator) or a code emailed to you at sign-in time.

Can I delete my account?

Yes - the "Danger zone" section at the bottom of Account → Profile lets you permanently delete your account, after confirming with an emailed code. This can't be undone.
